When I got 90's braids, tie dye outfit of the day and my LUSTLIST

Going to keep this one short and sweet, exam period and all that. The past week I have been OBSESSED with getting my hair braided, to the point where the other morning I was up till 5am no less looking at video tutorials and pictures of other peoples braids. Unable to revise I did the only thing I could possibly do in such a situation. Went to Peckham and got my hair did :)

Denim Shirt: Topshop , Tank top: Boy London

Ta DAAAA! What do you think? I cried several times (looking like that music teacher Jess went out with on new girl, such an ugly crier) when I got home with this new style, but eventually after much encouragement from my sister and my boyfriend I have embraced it. I now feel like I'm channelling Janet Jackson in Poetic Justice or Moesha - generally just awesome 90's hair.
My dad on the other hand said I just look like I came back from a holiday to Barbados haha!

Today was supposed to be sunny (in my mind anyway) so I dressed appropriately...
Crop top: Topshop , Shorts: DIY Vintage Levi 501 , Necklace: Federation Bristol ,
Spiked Bracelet:  Forever 21  _ photos by my lovely housemate Jackie <3

It wasn't sunny. But I feel summery anyway, I love this crop top, tie dye as you have probably figured out is one of my favourite things at the moment along with shoulder cut outs, I wish I could do one this complicated but alas I'm not that skilled. This outfit is perfect for lazing around in London Fields like I'm going to be doing all summer. Luckily enough I'm not venturing outside today as the weather is a bit shit, my first exam is tomorrow and I need to revise more eeeeek!

Rings : H&m , Don't know , Topshop

I really need to get on and book a summer holiday, the way things are going at the moment I will have spent all the holiday money on clothes. One of my recent purchases is a black leather backpack from eBay which was only £7.00 I can't wait for it to come!! You should see the backpack  I'm using at the moment it's my little sisters pink and brown Roxy one euughh..

Also something I need to share with you is the Myunidays discount IT IS AMAZING! As a student, to get student discount online at places like Asos and Topshop you need to buy an NUS extra card that costs £11, or pinch an NUS card number of a friend. Alas, I have never bought one being a complete cheapskate so when I heard about myunidays I was ecstatic

Various percentages of discounts are available for:

ASOS
Motelrocks
Office
Missguided
etc...

from this website.
This is honestly one of the best things I have been introduced to lately and I wanted to share the joy :D .

Here's a few other things I want/have just bought:

  1. Splash dyed Topshop denim sleeveless shirt £38 - this shirt is lush but in no way would I pat that amount of money for it... I think I smell a DIY coming on...
  2. Jeffrey Campbell Back off in Silver $179.95 -  A little bit more badass than the Acne Atacoma wedges
  3. Yin Yang leggings  £3.99 eBay -  Just bought these, I love the print, so 90's AND so much cheaper than the Topshop ones
  4. Plate spike belt Asos £12.75 with myunidays discount!!!! - I have been lusting over this belt for a while can't wait to wear it with my black high waisted shorts.
  5. Jeffrey Campbell Stinger Spike $139.95 - I NEED these, I lovelovelove transparent clothing/accessories at the moment!
  6. Motel at ASOS Midi dress £28 - Now usually I don't buy from motel (the quality can be a bit iffy and EVERYTHING is hand wash only!) but I LOVE the print and I think it's about time I got a midi.
  7. Black Milk Cathedral Leggings £46.76 - Definitely going to buy these this week, been waiting for them to be restocked for ages! I love the print, it is an actual image of a stain glass window in France oooooh.
  8. Jelly shoes £14.99 JuJu - Bought to my attention by my house mate Jackie this morning I am in DIRE need of these shoes, so transparent and jellyey I can't get enough of them

Listen.......can you hear that?...... my bank account is crying.

Styling a goddess, bit of Boy London and a road trip to Newcastle

Last weekend was the best weekend ever! My friend Hanna Hillier called me up and asked if I could style a  photo shoot for her with this AMAZING model Daniela Braga. Daniela was phenomenal, beautiful, lovely and  she has an amazing back catalogue of work; she did Paris fashion week, New York AND she shot a campaign for Givenchy a couple of weeks before the shoot we did!! I was so nervous but I'm really chuffed as the shots actually made it on to the next website. Here are a few of my favourites:

I love how she is wearing my Nikes in thee last shot :)
Despite the language barrier (she is Brazilian) we got along really well, she was so down to earth and probably the most gorgeous person I have ever seen in the flesh.

Then on Sunday I went shopping to Topshop with my dad and his lovely girlfriend, tried on half the shop and got an insane amount of new clothes which I will no doubt be sharing with you in due course. This is what I wore on that little excursion:

Top : Gina Tricot, Jeans : Topshop, Shoes : Underground (My little sister's)

This weekend the much exalted student loan came in - my quality of life has gone  through the roof as a result. First thing I did was purchase this beater (as my boyfriend would call it) from Boy London:

I've been wanting one for ages and I like to think one day my future child will thank me for it. By the way, that is now how I'm justifying my clothing and accessories binging. My mum hasn't really got any of her clothes from the 80's and 90's left due to moving country etc. I am always so jealous of my friends amazing vintage wardrobes courtesy of their mothers, so buying copious  amounts of interesting clothes is my way of helping out my future daughter with hers.
The beater should be at my house by the time I get back from Newcastle, YEAH BUDDY!!!!

At the moment I'm all the way up in Newcastle for my friends Gabby's boyfriends house night Nocturnal Playground, also I'm told in Newcastle they sell triples behind the bar WTF?? I think tonight might be very messy.

We experienced the delights of  Newcastle today at the Metro Centre, I didn't really buy anything because I literally don't need any more clothes after this weekend but it all right, not as god as Westfield London though mind. This is what I wore during the day:

Top/dress : Topshop , Leggings : Black Milk , Boots : Dr Martens , Earrings : Miss Selfridge

I apologise for the weird facial expression, I should really start putting a paper bag over my face haha!

This is what I'm wearing tonight when we go out:
Bodysuit : Miss selfridge , Disco Pants : American apparel , Boots : Jeffrey Campbell

I am absolutely DREADING the coach back to London tomorrow afternoon, seven hours in hungover hell, hopefully it will be empty so I can spread out over a couple of seats. Wish me luck

A bunch of stuff I'm sure we all want : Black Milk x Jeffrey Campbell, Vivienne Westwood galaxy accessories and bracelet clutches

I think I may be the poorest I have been for a very long time, going to top- up my oyster card is touch and go.. yeah THAT poor.

Jeffrey Campbell + Black Milk
  1.  Back off - bone machine
  2.  Night lita - rainbow galaxy
  3.  Damsel - rainbow galaxy
  4.  Damsel - sick of men
  5.  Damsel - bone machine
  6. Lita Fab - sick of men
I was browsing the Black Milk site the other day, not buying anything due to extreme poorness when I came across these bad boys. Available for pre order at Solestruck, all of these gorgeous boots are guaranteed to be a sell out, my favourites are the Night lita rainbow galaxies mmmmmm...

On a similar note : Vivienne Westwood Galaxy S/S12

I NEED the shoulder bag with the chunky chain in my life, just the right amount of ghetto bling x nebula = sexy.

Today I became aware of Werelse x mango touch (1). Those wedges and that bag and that cuff, OH MY GOODNESS. I love the up market bondage feel of the pieces, those wedges are lucky they are already sold out because I don't know what I'd do to them, paired with a black oversized t shirt dress and chunky gold chain necklace and you have yourself a look. The clutch with the chain bracelet inspired me to go on a hunt for more like it,  (2) and (3) are both from Zara,  I know this trend has come up a few times in the last few years (Kors/Gucci/Cavalli) but this dark, minimal take appeals to me a lot more than the more embellished designs I've previously seen.

On a far less glamorous note, this is what I wore today  :
p.s I couldn't be arsed to brush/straighten my hair, this is what you get TA DA

Where is it from?

Lipstick : Mac - freckletone
Tank top : Topshop (via eBay)
Skirt : Hanna's (charity shop and shortened)
Necklace : Anne Maries (I promise I'll give it back next week )
Belt : ASOS

I was at Hanna's last night going through her amazing wardrobe and I found this skirt, she has more clothes than God. I love this print it is so bright, tropical and combined with my new 'smile' belt makes for a lovely sunny day outfit, shame it was raining ha! I'm not sure if I'm feeling the grey tank/big boobs combo, but hey I was at my dads and didn't have any other t shirts clean.

It's only a short amount of time till student loan day, I CAN'T WAIT!
As soon as that money hits my account I will be hitting the Pimlico and Hammersmith charity shops hard so watch this space
8 days to go

Easter, Bristol, hangovers and DIY : Safety-pin cross T

The past week has been the best I have had in ages, although it has rendered me completely skint.. no I mean dirt poor. I got to go home to Bristol for the first time since January (seems like eternity), got to attend my first Shapes, was pretty good and
best of all it's a night put on by some of my nearest and dearest friends. Loads of amazing people

Above : Me and Anne Marie drunking it up - Check out her nails SO GOOD!

Despite being of questionable sobriety all night I managed to catch lots of what was going on , I especially enjoyed Pardon my French and of course the Lovely Fuz, threw a lot of SHAPES  Definately check this night out if you are in the West Country soon, the Actual DJ Jazzy Jeff is heading up the next night look here.

jazzy

YES THE ACTUAL JAZZY JEFF

But now I'm back in London and back to work, which may I add is going terribly. Being a shot girl is so hard, I'm not pushy enough for sales, the kind of people who tend  go to the clubs I work in are vile, I really don't like men or the women who are bitchy to me because they think I'm hitting on their scum-bag boyfriends GET A LIFE! The things I do for money hmmmm...
Sorry rant over.

Anyway because of my lack of work I have had to reinvent stuff I already have
like this American Apparel tank DIY with safety pins:

safety pin cross

Pretty self explanatory really, so easy and I LOVE it. Also cracking out the purple lipstick lately has have a great reaction, in the above photo, I'm wearing Revlon - Va Va Violet.

revlon

But anyway today I went to the doctors and decided to dress up seeing as I haven't emerged from my room for 24 hours after Fabric the other night. I don't even know half of what went on, all I
know is Christian , If you are out there HEEEY MAAAN!
I love how the tie dye came out in these shorts, pastels are sick ! I wore the oversized sheer shirt to offset the tightness of the shorts/ attempting some kind of volume like the current trend (I naturally gravitate to tight clothes), I did spend the whole day pulling these out of my bum - however I still looked good n'est-ce pas?

Where Is It From ?

Shirt : H&M
Shorts : Charity Shop £2.50 DIY cut and dyed
Boots : Dr Martens
Cross Necklace: Topshop
Quartz chain necklace : Borrowed from Anne Marie , thanks man :)

As I insist every year, I only received Kinder Easter Eggs thanks to my lovely father.
Why isn't everything made of Kinder?
Hope you had a lovely Easter

Samira Boon Furoshiki Shiki lust

The i Pad Furoshiki Shiki  created by Samira Boon deserves it's own post.
I've been lusting over this amazing piece of Japanese/Dutch design  for a while, having seen it held by Ivania Carpio of Love Aesthetics.

I don't even own an i Pad mind, read the name of the blog! But like Ivania I think this makes an awesome clutch especially with the neon thing going on everywhere at the moment.
I . NEED . TRANSPARENT . STUFF

Now this is a very impractical craving when living in East London... think about it.

The envelope style simplicity of this  is actually amazing as demonstrated below:

Comes in LOADS of colours.

When the next bit of loan comes in I think I'll go for the green one. BOOM!
Wow, don't know where that came from.
my dissertation research proposal won't write itself .
Oh and one more thing inspired by Ivania Carpio :

I guess these are third hand, she copied these from her sister. Hers were nude and black but I was digging some Louboutin style nails
On another note..

Sunny G's  - Primark
T shirt - my sisters

YESSSSSSS IT'S NEARLY SUMMER..

I'm counting down the days.....

(photos all from Google apart from the rubbish one of me)

What I need in my life / Boy London

Today I got all dressed up to go to uni but couldn't be arsed to go in, so I stayed at home and did work. I thought seeing as Queen Mary has just become a Russell group uni I might find it in me to put in a bit more effort.
Or not....
Still waiting for my denim jacket and litas to arrive in the post, should have seen me running down the stairs this morning to check the post!

ALSO ... I have a really cool DIY coming up soon of Boy London hats.
To give you some background...

Boy London is an iconic label created by Stephane Raynor in 1977 that was seen everywhere in the 80's on the chicest trend-setters to club kids.
Now as a favourite label of Rihanna and other celebrities it has made a huge comeback over the last year or so. I will be recreating this hat:

Although it only retails at £30 I can't afford it atm (thanks to my crippling eBay addiction)
And it's really easy to make

WATCH THIS SPACE - tutorial to come.

And because I'm so poor I've decided to put together a wishlist of stuff I would buy right now if I wasn't so skint :)

WHAT I WANT/NEED IN MY LIFE :

1.Colour block shorts - River Island

2. Multicolour Nail varnish - Topshop

3. Smile Belt - Asos

4. 80's jacket - Rokit QUICK SOMEONE BUY ME THIS!!!

5. Flatform / platform leopard print trainers - Office

6. Banana print T-Shirt dress - ASOS

7. Gym Satan Laundry muscle T - UNIF

SS12 TREND: Isabel Marant Wedge Trainers

These amazing Isobel Marant trainers have been seen everywhere at fashion week !
Whether or not these trainers are a micro-trend I'm not sure, but they are FRESSSSSSHHHHHHHH!
As a girl who loves her high tops these are a must have, casual street wear with  a fashion twist, although the £440 price tag takes them out of my price range.

-COLD COMFORT-

The cool ones are sold out everywhere so I couldn't buy them even if I maxed out my overdraft YAY!

Marc Jacobs has also got in on this trend with these bad boys:

Not gonna lie I would sell my left hand for a pair of these... I'd save money on gloves.

After pining for half the morning over fresh kicks I cannot afford I was browsing the H&M website and came across these bad boys:

Not bad for £19.99

I'm thinking I'll style them like this:
Someone please hide my debit card from me I shouldn't be allowed invisible money!
Picked up some tings from the St Michaels Hospice charity shop yesterday, I'll blog all about it later
ttyl bitches.
